The Refinery

Craft beers and a crafty menu made fresh daily using local produce.

The Front Porch

Relaxed and casual dining. Great cocktails and eats. Glad they refurbished inside and out – and got rid of that disgusting Pepto Pink!

Cappy’s Pizza

Open only in the evenings and cash only. Chicago style pizza and good beer. Service is reported to be somewhat lax, but the pizzas are worth waiting for – get there early.

Nicko’s Fine Foods (No Website)

4603 N Florida Ave

A cross between American, Greek and Italian foods. Nicko’s is not gourmet but it’s cheap, friendly and fast. Busy nearly all day. This is one of the only two genuine American diners left in Tampa. It’s shabby to say the least but breakfast is great and the service is always friendly. Try the Souvlaki or Greek salad.Elvis ate at here – really!

Ella’s Americana Folk Art Cafe

Ella’s is a great place for good food along with the whacky decor. A great selection of beers if you want a quick brewski – anyone who sells Newcastle Brown is alright with me. LIVE MUSIC.

 Tampa Taco Bus

Got the munchies at 3am and not much dinero? You can fill yourself up with authentic Mexican and vegetarian food here. Great food – totally unique. It’s a mini-vacation.

Now open 24/7. Oh yeah ….

Blue Sea Fish Market (No Website)

7110 N Nebraska Ave

I get takeaway from here at least once a week. Wide selection of fish and some Chinese dishes.  Need super-fresh uncooked fish?  You can buy that here too.  Portions are BIG.

  Avlija Grill

This Eastern European restaurant gets a lot of great feedback. Bosnian food that’s similar to Greek but with an attentive French restaurant twist. Vegetarian dishes available.  Prices are very reasonable and the food is made fresh using local produce.

The Independent

Where can you sit outside with the dog, enjoy awesome micro-brews and eat great food all at the same time? This was a vehicle filling station now it’s a human filling station! It’s like being back in England. Great beers in a bohemian and friendly atmosphere. LIVE MUSIC

Bungalow Bistro (No Website)

Taken just after the Bistro was finished, it’s now surrounded by lush vegetation. Just like the greenery’s grown, The Bungalow Bistro’s reputation has too. It’s a great place for a long lunch and the service is attentive and friendly. The food is fresh and delicious and reasonably priced.
